Tibetan thangka and appliqué artists Terris and Leslie Nguyen Temple join us for a long weekend on November 1-4 at Here Now. You will have the opportunity to view their work and share thier passion for the natural world through an exhibition of their beautiful artwork, a workshop, a mindfulness yoga practice and the screenings of a captivating documentary about the creation of giant silk appliqué thangkas in Tibet.
On Sunday afternoon Terris and Leslie will lead a workshop offering an array of lotus forms and designs as a starting point to transform into colorful patterned fabric appliques.
Sharing a technique inspired by the ‘cut-glue’ applique style found in Tibet and using a selection of colorful Asian silks, participants will be guided to translate their designs into floral images which could be framed or used to accessorize/ embellish existing favorite items (bag, cushion, clothing).
All material is included but you can bring your own pieces of favorite fabric, if you so desire. No skill is required.
